On the weekends, everyone is looking for a great bargain. If you are a bargain shopper, you probably go to yard sales or what some call garage sales. A garage sale is basically an informal irregularly scheduled event for the sale of used goods. These events are usually organized by home owners.
The best thing about garage sales is that you do not have to pay sales taxes on the items. The worst thing about garage sales is that the items are sold as is and there are some things you can not purchase.
- Laptop- Electronics such as laptops may have been dropped, knocked around, or had something spilled on them. Try purchasing this item new.
- Plasma TV- It is difficult to determine how well the tv was cared for. Besides, if the item needs repairing it could take sevaral hundreds of dollars to fix it.
- Shoes- Shoes tend to hold the mold of the previous owner. The wear and tear alone can cause foot pain and health problems.
- Hats-Hats are rarely cleaned before the are put on display.

Thanks for the tips! Another thing to watch out for is recalled items. Make sure the seller checked that their items haven’t been recalled. Also, once you purchase your items, you can use Items I Own (http://wemakeitsafer.com/ItemsIOwn) to be notified if your items are recalled in the future. Hope that’s helpful!
